The Delhi Cabinet approved re-fixation of the security amount and fixation of the compensation cost for the loss of greenery, under the Delhi Preservation of Trees Act, 1994 Wildlife, Govt. of NCT of Delhi.
The existing rate for each tree to be removed has been increased in case of both individuals as well as developmental and commercial projects.
The raise in the security amount is as follows:
From the existing rate of Rs. 28,000/- to Rs.34,500/- in case of individual for each tree to be removed under the Delhi Preservation of Trees Act, 1994, with a refundable component of Rs.15,000/- for ensuring compensatory plantation in case of individual applicant for personal use.
In case of the developmental and commercial projects, it has been raised from the existing rate of Rs. 28,000/- to Rs. 57,000/- for each tree to be removed under the Delhi Preservation of Trees Act, 1994, with a refundable component of Rs. 25,000/- for ensuring compensatory plantation in case of project authority.
