Hockey Bihar defeats Hockey Gujarat 6-1

Intense clashes conclude the second day of the 5th Sub Junior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) Div. B

- Hockey Bihar defeats Hockey Gujarat 6-1
- Hockey Jammu & Kashmir blanks Chandigarh Olympic Association 27-0
- Manipur Hockey edge-pasts Kerala Hockey 3-0

Ranchi, 19 May 2015: The second day of the 5th Sub Junior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) Div B witnessed some tough fought battles between the teams who played to win their respective matches today.

The day began with a victory for Hockey Bihar they defeated Hockey Gujarat 6-1. Followed by this, was a battle between Hockey Jammu & Kashmir and Chandigarh Olympic Association which was won by Chandigarh Olympic Association 27-0. The third match of the day, Manipur Hockey beat Kerala Hockey 3-0.

In the Pool A match, Hockey Bihar defeated Hockey Gujarat 6-1. Hockey Bihar post their loss against Chandigarh yesterday came back strong today as they attacked from the very first minute of the game and making their intentions clear. They scored their first goal in the 19th minute when Riya Kumari slammed the ball into the nets. Hockey Bihar, kept the pressure on Hockey Gujarat despite the latter's best efforts to thwart their attempts and successfully doubled their lead through penalty corner in the 32nd minute. Hockey Bihar managed to sneak in two field goals in 43rd and 58th minute by Mohini Kumari and Riya Kumari respectively taking the lead 4-0. Hockey Gujarat's constant efforts bore fruits, when Shivangi Solanki found the opposition nets in the 59th minute, but it came too late for them as post their opening goal Hockey Bihar dominated rest of the game. Rani Kumari and Mahima Kumari's respective field goals in 63rd and 65th minute led Hockey Bihar to a deserving victory over Hockey Gujarat with the score 6-1.

In another match between Hockey Jammu & Kashmir and Chandigarh Olympic Association it was the latter who proved to be the dominant team as they slammed 27 goals to win the game 27-0. Showcasing their intent from the very first minute Chandigarh Olympic Association stunned the team in the very 4th minute as Captain Lakhwinder Singh struck through a field goal. This was immediately followed by the team two consecutive goals in the 6th and 7th minute to take the score to 3-0. Not wanting to leave their hold on the game Chandigarh Olympic Association hereon added goals at regular intervals in the entire game, not allowing the opponents to make a come-back. Before the end of first half Chandigarh Olympic Association added another 12 goals outclassing Hockey Jammu & Kashmir and the scorecard read 15-0. The second half saw a similar onslaught by the team as they added another 12 goals before they registered a huge win of 27-0. Manisha with her 6 goals and Poonam with her 5 goals stood out for their brilliant performance and which helped Chandigarh Olympic Association beat Hockey Jammu & Kashmir with such a huge goal margin.

In the third match, Manipur Hockey drubbed Kerala Hockey by 3-0. From the onset, both the teams were looking at penetrating the opponent's defence but it was Manipur Hockey who drew the first blood in the 14th minute of the game through Sonia Devi's field goal. Extending the lead to 2-0, Lanleibi Chanu struck the second goal for Manipur Hockey in the 35th minute. With the use of a penalty shoot in the 63rd minute, it was Captain Sarita Devi who netted the third goal for Manipur Hockey to take the winning tally to 3-0.

The last match of Pool B between Hockey Puducherry and Hockey Patiala is going on in Ranchi at the time of this release.
