New Delhi, 12th May: A delegation of BJP leaders led by the State President Shri Satish Upadhyay today met the Lt. Governor of Delhi Shri Najeeb Jung regarding prominent issues related to the welfare & compensation of the people and freedom of the media.
The delegation included senior BJP leaders and party office bearers prominent being MP Shri Ramesh Bidhuri, Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Legislative Shri Vijender Gupta, MLAs Shri Om Prakash Sharma, Shri Jagdish Pradhan, Shri Ashish Sood, Smt. Rekha Gupta, Prof. Rajni Abbi, Smt. Vishakha Shailani, Shri Jai Prakash, Smt. Shikha Rai, Shri Abhay Kumar Verma, Smt. Kiran Chaddha, Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal and Shri Praveen Shankar Kapoor.
BJP leaders gave detailed memorandums to the Lt. Governor on the issues of a circular brought out by Delhi Government to throttle the media & socio-political activist freedom of speech, compensation for crop loss to the farmers, compensation to the family of DTC driver killed in an incident of road rage.
Speaking to the media persons on the issue outside Raj Niwas the Delhi BJP President Shri Satish Upadhyay said that today Delhi BJP has given memorandum on the issues and requested the Lt. Governor to seek report from the Chief Secretary of Delhi on the issues of anti media circular, inadequate irrational compensation to farmers and Delhi Government's dual standards in giving the compensation to the families of Govt. employees dying on duty.
Shri Upadhyay said that we have also brought it to the notice of the Lt. Governor that all through the last three months Delhi Government ministers and ruling party MLAs have been repeatedly involved in the incidents of controversies and lawlessness. Perhaps this is the motivation why Delhi Government has brought out a circular to throttle the media freedom.
Shri Upadhyay said that today we have tried to explore the administrative avenue to resolve the grievances of farmers, DTC employees and media but if the Delhi Government fails to resolve and satisfy the people Delhi BJP will be constrained to launch an agitation.
