Senior leaders of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee visited the villages of Bajidpur, Katewara and Kutabgarh in the Bawana Assembly segment in Outer Delhi to assess the extensive damage to the crops caused by the recent rains and hailstorms, and we were shocked to see the losses suffered by the poor farmers. After talking to the shattered farmers, we realized that many of them were on the verge of ruin and penury as their crops had been hit hard by the hailstorms, and they were deep in debts, as most of them had cultivated on leased lands.
The farmers complained that neither the BJP-led Central Government, nor the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi Government, had done anything to compensate them for the destruction of their crops. Even the area BJP MP and AAP MLA had not bothered to visit these villages in Outer Delhi to take stock of the extent of losses suffered by the farmers, and provide them immediate compensation to tide over the crisis.
During our visit to the Outer Delhi villages, we had asked ex-MLA from the Bawana Assembly segment Shri Surender Kumar to talk to the farmers about the damage to their crops and other problems being faced by them, and sumbit a report. Shri Surender Kumar’s report clearly brings out the plight of the farmers and what needed to be done to provide them immediate relief.
We are enclosing the report for your kind perusal and necessary action so that the poor farmers are given prompt compensation for the damage suffered to their crops for them to tackle the present crisis, and get back their life on track.
