Today PM, Shri Narendra Modi, offered prayers at the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal. PM Modi is on the Nepal official tour and today is the last Monday of the Shravan month as per the Hindu calendar. This is very auspicious and people the get the blessings of the God Shiva.
As per the Hindu mythology this day is considered very auspicious as it Monday and falling in the Sharavan month,
The Prime Minister was greeted with traditional Hindu musical instruments and schoolchildren chanted the Vedic mantras. Prime Minster was there at the temple around 45 minutes and during this a special prayer (Mahapuja) was performed.
PM donated 2500 kg of sandalwood to the temple and the temple authorities also presented a small scale model of the temple to PM Narendra Modi.
In his note in the visitor's books he mentioned that the temples of Pashupatinath Temple and Kashi Vishwanath Temple (in Varanasi) appear similar.
The PM also later greeted thousands of the people who have assembled in and around the temple premises to see this occasions.
The Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most significant temple of Shiva and it is located in the banks of the Bagmati River in Nepal. This temple is also listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.
