Delhi: Anti-Corruption Branch arrests accused for bribe Rs.10,000

The Anti Corruption Branch, Directorate of Vigilance, GNCT of Delhi has arrested Subhash Chand S/o Late Sh. Puran Chand R/o RZ-18-B, Janki Puri, Police Station-Dabri, Delhi yesterday for accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant.

Giving details about the case, Additional Commissioner of Police (Anti-Corruption Branch) Shri V. Renganathan informed that the complainant has alleged that on 17.07.2014, his brother, who is in Tihar Jail prison and is facing trial in an attempt to murder case, had telephonically informed him from the prison to arrange for Rs. 20,000/- to give the same to one Asstt. Superintendent of Tihar Jail, Delhi in lieu of facilitating him in the prison. The prisoner also informed that if bribe money is not given to him, he would implicate him in a false case.

According to the complainant, on 24.07.14, one Asstt. Supdt. Tihar Jail made a telephone call to the complainant and directed the complainant to come at parking site in front of Tihar Jail, Delhi along with bribe money of Rs. 10,000/-. The complainant reported the matter to Anti Corruption Branch on 24.07.14.

A trap was led by the officials of Anti Corruption Branch and one Subhash Chand S/o Late Sh. Puran Chand R/o RZ-18-B, Janki Puri, Police Station-Dabri, Delhi was caught red handed with bribe money of Rs. 10,000/- from the park site opp. Gate No. 3, Tihar Jail near CNG Pump, Jail Road, Delhi by the officials of Anti Corruption Branch. During investigation Subhash Chand disclosed that he is working as a contract labourer employed by PWD Authorities for managing the Public Address System in the Jail Complex and was accepting bribe money on behalf of Asstt. Supdt., Tihar Jail, Delhi.

Shri Renganathan further said that a case FIR No. 56/14 dated 24.07.2014 U/s 7/8/13 POC Act, 1988 r/w 120-B IPC was registered at PS A.C. Branch and the accused Subhash Chand has been arrested in the case. The investigation is in progress.
