Mayor Mr. Yogender Chandolia inaugurated the newly-developed Municipal Primary school building at Rohini Sector-3 in Ward number 45, at a cost of Rs. 2.36 crore. Member of Parliament from Northwest Delhi Mr. Udit Raj was the special guest at the event. Standing Committee Chairman of North Delhi Municipal Corporation Mr. Mohan Bhardwaj also graced the occasion, while area councillor Ms. Sanjana Singh presided over the function. Director-in-Chief (DEMC) Mr. K P Singh; Deputy Commissioner of Rohini Zone Mr. Deepak Purohit; and senior officials of other departments were also present on this occasion.
Member of Parliament Mr. Udit Raj said that the school building was as good as that of a private school. He appreciated the Corporation for developing such a building with such good quality. He expressed hope that the quality of education in this would be as good as the building.
Mayor Mr. Chandolia said that the Corporation’s schools in Rohini Zone provide ample space for physical activities also. He appealed to school principals to maintain a positive environment in schools. He added that the quality of mid-day meal be improved. He announced that a park for women and children will be developed in this area.
Mr. Mohan Bhardwaj said that arrangements for water harvesting are made in the schools which are being developed as it is a step to ease off the problem of groundwater scarcity. He informed that the building is earthquake resistance and also has the facility of underground tank for drinking water.
“The building has been developed at an approximate cost of Rs. 236.84 lakh in an area spread over 5022.02 sq. km. The two-storey building has 14 classrooms, two toilet blocks at each floor and a staff room, office room and science room,” Mr. Bhardwaj said. As a good number of local residents were also present on this occasion, Mr. Bhardwaj also urged them to take measures to prevent and control vector as well as water-borne diseases in their as well as interest of their neighbourhood.
