Kejriwal is misleading the people of Delhi and country: Congress

New Delhi, Tue, 24 Jun 2014 NI Wire

The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) has alleged that Aam Aadmi Party convenor Shri Arvind Kejriwal has deliberately misled on the issue of the disputed property. Party chief spokesperson Shri Mukesh Sharma said at a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, here today that the Aam Aadmi Party’s office at Hanuman Road in Connaught Place was a disputed property and the 800 square metre bungalow in Civil Lines in which he was planning to shift was not only a disputed property, but there was a case about the bungalow in the court.

Shri Mukesh Sharma accused Shri Kejriwal of misleading the people of Delhi and the country, and also the media about the Tilak Lane house which was allotted to him as the Chief Minister of Delhi, but wanted it to be allotted in his wife’s name after she is promoted, in a letter to the Union Government. Shri Sharma said the truth was that Shri Kejriwal’s wife was a 1994 batch IRS officer, and no officer of this batch was neither entitled for C-II category flat in Tilak Lane, nor has any IRS official been allotted such a category of house anywhere. He said even after Smt. Kejriwal is promoted as Income Tax Commissioner, she would not be entitled for C-II category houses. He said in a bid to retain the Tilak Lane house, Shri Kejriwal has proferred many excuses, and he was paying the rent of the house from the donations given to the Aam Aadmi Party by the poor people.

Shri Mukesh Sharma said Shri Kejriwal has broken all norms of justice, and to secure Government facilities like house and security cover, he was ready to lie and even insult the court. Shri Mukesh Sharma said Shri Kejriwal was entitled for a house from the NDMC, being an MLA from the NDMC area, as well as a member of the NDMC. But surprisingly, the BJP Government at the Centre and the Delhi administration were bestowing special privileges on Kejriwal as a note was sent to the Union Home Ministry three days ago, recommending that the NDMC members should be allotted houses.

He said the NDMC recommendation has established that Arvind Kejriwal was in league with the BJP, and that was why Kejriwal was being given special privileges. Shri Mukesh Sharma said he had also information that the Home Ministry has approved this suggestion, and recommended allotment of a house to Kejriwal. He said an enquiry should be conducted why was Kejriwal taking keen interest in disputed properties.
