As the Holy month of Ramzan is drawing near, North Delhi Mayor Yogendra Chandolia today inspected the areas around Jama Masjid in Old Delhi and launched a special cleanliness drive from Zeenat Mahal. He was accompanied by Chairman of Ward Committee of City Zone Mr. Ramesh Dutta, Deputy Chairman Mr. Imran Hussain, Municipal Councillors, Mr. Rakesh Kumar and Ms. Seema Tahira, Additional Commissioner (DEMS) Mr. Deepak Hastir, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Hamendra Kumar and senior officials of other departments.
The Mayor directed the officials concerned to escalate the cleanliness around the Jama Masjid area. He said that if necessary, additional safai karamcharis will be deployed to improve the sanitation in the area during the holy month of Ramzan which has great devotional value to the Muslim community. He directed the Deputy Commissioner to monitor the arrangements, if need be to improve sanitation, cleaning of street be get done twice daily.
During the inspection, the Mayor also visited Ayurvedic, Homeopathic and Uunani Dispensaries in the Old Delhi. Besides, in view of monsoon season, he also emphasised on desilting of all drains. With a rise in the number of stray dogs in the area, he directed the department concerned to sterilise them to contain their population.
