NDMC: Mayor takes stock of monsoon preparedness in walled city

North Delhi Mayor Yogender Chandolia along with the Municipal Commissioner Mr. Praveen Gupta and Deputy Commissioner Mr. Hamender Kumar today inspected various areas falling under the City Zone to check the preparedness for the upcoming monsoon.

The Mayor and the Commissioner were accompanied by area councillor Ms. Surekha Gupta, senior officials of the North Corporation and Public Works Department (PWD), Irrigation and Flood Control Department and other civic agencies to avoid lack of coordination among them, leading to inconvenience to the people during the rainy season.

Mr. Chandolia checked the pumping sets deployed at various points in the City Zone to deal with waterlogging and directed the officials concerned to remove malba/garbage lying on roads.

He expressed hope that this monsoon will not bring inconvenience to the citizens as there is a better coordination among the different civic agencies so ensure that all drains are desilted and there is proper outfall.

"Lack of coordination among multiple agencies lead to citizens facing hassles due to waterlogging and the agencies pass the buck to each other. Addressing this problem, this time we have constituted six teams comprising officials from other civic agencies as well. They will ensure monsoon effective preparedness," Mr. Chandolia said.

He also inspected manholes at different points of the City Zone and asked PWD officials to keep a check on those elements which are dumping malba at Asaf Ali Road at night. He asked the officials to take help of the police patrolling party to identify those elements.

Deputy Mayor of North Corporation Mr. Ravinder Gupta along with Engineer-in-Chief Mr. Anil Prakash and Deputy Commissioner of Karol Bagh Zone Mr. Dharmender Kumar inspected the different areas of Karol Bagh Zone today to check the preparedness for monsoon.

The team of the Narela Zone was led by Standing Committee Chairman Mr. Mohan Bhardwaj and CA-cum-FA Mr. Pankaj Kumar Singh who along with the Corporation and PWD officials inspected the areas to check proper desilting of all drains.

Leader of the House Ms. Mira Aggarwal; Additional Commissioner (Engineering) Ms. Dilraj Kaur and Deputy Commissioner Mr. A Neduncheziyan inspected the areas of Civil Lines.
