NCR: LG directs the officials to improves helpful for people

Najeeb Jung, the Lt. Governor of Delhi alongwith the Chief Secretary, Delhi today conducted intensive review of 9 departments of Government of NCT of Delhi. This was 3rd review of such nature. With this review, all the departments have been covered. The departments reviewed today were Trade and Taxes, Excise, Entertainment and Luxury Tax, Transport, Environment and Forest, Higher Education, Training & Technical Education, Information Technology, Labour and Employment, Art, Culture and Language and Tourism.

The Lt. Governor directed the department of Trade and Taxes to make maximum use of information technology, make the entire process of registration of firms and filing of returns paperless, provide facilities for online filing with digital signatures. This will prevent inconvenience to people and make the filing facilities available 24X7. The department was also directed to take strict action against the tax evaders and defaulters.

The Lt. Governor directed the department to improve its office so that the people coming to the office have a pleasant experience. The practice of bringing unaccounted goods through the railways was highlighted and it was decided that strict action against such traders shall be taken. It was also decided that Tax Identification Number (TIN) will be used across the departments as a unique identifier to prevent tax evasion.

The Chief Secretary directed the Transport department to immediately improve the basic amenities at ISBT Anand Vihar and was also directed to expedite the process of construction of new building of the ISBT. The zonal offices of the department at Seikh Sarai will be renovated. The Lt. Governor directed the Transport Commissioner to ensure proper lighting at bus queue shelters.

The department of Environment and Forest was directed to take immediate steps to check pollution in the city, specially the air pollution. Secretary Environment and Forest highlighted that they are taking steps in this direction in close collaboration with other concerned departments. The steps include imposition of heavy fine on the violators, checking over loading of vehicles, tightening of Pollution Control Norms for vehicles, promotion of battery operated vehicles, diversion of non destined vehicles and prevention of their entry in the city, installation of dust control measure at construction sites etc.. The Lt. Governor also directed that proper disposal of biomedical wastes must also be ensured.
