In a tight security to maintain the free and fair poll, the polling in 117 constituencies begins today. These 117 constituencies have spread across the 11 states and on union territory in the state.
These seats are very crucial for both BJP and Congress as it constitutes a major part from the overall seats. The state where today election is going on is Bihar, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh etc.
Voting in Bihar for seven Lok Sabha seats and two state assembly seats began Thursday, officials said.
Balloting for the Lok Sabha and the assembly bye-election are being held simultaneously. This is the third round of polling in the state that sends 40 lawmakers to parliament. Balloting started on brisk note in Rajasthan's five Lok Sabha constituencies Thursday.
Rajasthan has 25 parliamentary constituencies, and in the second phase voting is being held in five constituencies of Bharatpur, Dausa, Tonk-Sawai Madhopur, Karauli-Dholpur and Alwar. Long queues were seen since early morning as voters wanted to beat the heat in this desert state. Union minister Jitendra Singh, who is contesting from Alwar constituency, was among the first to cast his vote. According to official sources the polling has been peaceful so far and is expected to pick up later in the day
Polling of over 15.40 percent was reported from Dausa constituency while Karauli-Dholpur reported polling of only 13.23 percent till 9 a.m.
Voting started peacefully for the third and final phase of elections to 19 Lok Sabha constituencies across Maharashtra here Thursday morning, officials said.
A total of 338 candidates, including 24 women - and 119 independents, are in the race. Top industrialists, businessmen, film stars and socialites are expected to exercise their franchise alongside slumdwellers, tribals, fishermen and migrants.
Balloting for seven Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh started Thursday in the third and final round of polling in the state, officials said.
As many as 153 candidates are in the fray. The state has 11 Lok Sabha seats. Voting is taking place at 14,474 polling booths where 72,120 poll officials have been tasked with the job of holding free and fair polls.
