To streamline the functioning of the Government of Delhi and to make it more sensitive and citizen-friendly, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Shri Najeeb Jung has directed all the Principal Secretaries/Secretaries/HODs of Government of NCT of Delhi to be available in their offices from 11:00 A.M. to 01:00 P.M. everyday except Wednesday to meet public and listen to their grievances for redressal.
He has also directed them to share the information pertaining to the important issues/work done by their departments for dissemination to general public through Directorate of Information & Publicity through the designated officers already allocated to their departments for issuance of press releases/press communiqués.
The Lieutenant Governor has asked the Chief Secretary to issue orders to all Principal Secretaries/Secretaries/HODs/CMDs of corporations/autonomous bodies of Government of NCT of Delhi to issue circular in this regard mentioning date & time schedule for the public hearing and also submission of the reports of major decisions, activities, achievements pertaining to their departments to the Chief Secretary and copy thereof to Director, Information & Publicity once a week in case of general departments and twice a week in case of major departments through the designated Dy. Directors/Information Officers/Assistant Information Officers for sharing the information to general public.
Accordingly, the Chief Secretary of Government of NCT of S.K. Srivastava has issued two circulars to all the Principal Secretaries/Secretaries/HODs, CMDs of autonomous bodies/corporations of Government of NCT of Delhi. In one circular, the Chief Secretary has instructed to all the officers including senior officers to make themselves available at designated hours to meet members of the public to listen to their complaints and redress grievances. He has issued instructions that 11.00 AM to 1.00 PM every day except Wednesday is declared a no meeting period and during this time, all Principal Secretaries/ Secretaries/ HODs are available in their offices to meet the public.
In case of unavoidable circumstances, the second in command should be available to meet the public. Similarly, all other officers, especially at field level, should be available for meeting the public from 11.00 AM to 1.00 PM every day. No meeting should be scheduled during the above mentioned period. All senior officers will also visit and inspect field offices.
