Aam Aadmi Party Government in Delhi on Tuesday suspended three Delhi Jal Board (DJB) officials after a news channel released a video of them taking bribe. As soon as the news broke out the AAP govt. became active and suspended all the three who were named in the Sting operation.
Also AAP ordered the transfer of around 800 other officials of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) in a bid to streamline its service delivery mechanism. Most of these officials have been posted at the same area for more than 10 years.
The three officials who have been suspended are Chief Water Analyst Vinod Kumar, Patwari Sunil Kumar and Meter reader Atul Prakash. Delhi's Urban Development and Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Manish Sisodia disclosed their name saying cases will be filed against the three officials.
The AAP was voted to power on December 8 on promises that included providing about 700 litres of free water per household and a halving of power tariffs.
These transfers and suspension are a direction to control the tanker mafia in Delhi.
