BJP tsunami sweeping through India, says Modi

Andhra Pradesh,Elections 2014,Politics, Tue, 22 Apr 2014 IANS

Hyderabad/Mahabubnagar/Karimnagar/Nizamabad (Andhra Pradesh), April 22 (IANS) BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Tuesday said the country is witnessing his party's "tsunami" and no one can stop it from coming to power.

Winding up a day-long hectic campaigning in Telangana with a massive election meeting in Hyderabad Tuesday night, he said when he started the campaign, it was only a storm but it has now turned into a tsunami.

"There will be no escape for Congress and its allies," he told the gathering at Hyderabad's L.B.Stadium

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and actor Pawan Kalyan, who recently floated a political party Jana Sena, shared the dais with the Gujarat chief minister.

Addressing the fourth meeting in Telangana, Modi said like other parts of the country, the tsunami was also sweeping through Telangana.

Terming the bad governance of the Congress as the root of all the problems, he promised to usher in development to meet the aspirations of 125 crore people.

He promised that, if voted to power, he would bring back black money stashed away in foreign banks, adding he would use every law of the land and if necessary, amend the laws and take help of any country for the purpose.

"I will bring back every rupee and use it for the welfare of poor," he said, adding part of the money would be used to pay back to the salaried class who are honestly paying their taxes.

He pointed out that the Supreme Court Tuesday pulled up the government for doing nothing to comply with its order directing it to form a special investigation team to bring back the black money.

Describing Telangana and Seemandhra as two motherless newborn, Modi said he was ready to take responsibility of nurturing them with care.

"If I get opportunity to serve you, I will give you in seven months what they have not given you in 60 years," he said amid loud cheers.

Modi urged people to reject the Congress as it insulted the sons of soil from Andhra Pradesh including former president Sanjiva Reddy, former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao and former chief minister T.Anjaiah.

Earlier, addressing meetings in three other Telangana towns, he promised to change the destiny of people of Telangana, which is set to become India's 29th state on June 2.

He also assured people that he would solve the problems faced by lakhs of Telangana youth working as labourers in the Gulf countries and also vowed to check the farmers' suicides.

Modi targeted both the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for promoting dynasty politics and said their only aim is to loot.

"A family in Delhi has already destroyed India. Will you commit the same mistake here," he asked the people in an obvious reference to the family of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao.

Modi pointed out that four members of a family are in fray and wondered if they did not find Telangana boys and girls capable of contesting elections.

Chandrasekhara Rao, his daughter, son and nephew are also contesting elections.

"Telangana is infancy stage. It needs special care and love which only BJP can give. It can't be allowed to die by giving it in the hands of others," Modi said.

The BJP leader said the elections were important for Telangana people as they have to decide what kind of government they want in Delhi and in Telangana.

Countering the Congress claim that it carved out Telangana state, Modi said it was people of Telangana who achieved the state through their sacrifices.

Claiming that he alone can look after Telangana, he pointed out that he is already taking care of three lakh people of Telangana who are employed in Surat.

Targetting the Congress for the manner in which it handled bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, he likened the party to a doctor which delivered a child but killed the mother.

Telangana, which has 119 assembly and 17 Lok Sabha seats, is going to polls April 30. The BJP is fighting the polls in alliance with the TDP.
