India-headed Malaysian plane returns after technical glitch

Kuala Lumpur, April 21 (IANS) A Malaysian plane heading for India's Bangalore city with 166 people on board had to return to Kuala Lumpur late Sunday following a technical glitch it developed on take off.

The Malaysia Airlines Flight 192 landed safely Sunday as it returned to Kuala Lumpur because its landing gear had malfunctioned on takeoff, CNN reported.

The Boeing 737 with 166 people on board touched down just before 2 a.m. local time, the airline said on its Twitter feed.

Earlier, the airline said landing gear on the right side of the plane, carrying 159 passengers, had malfunctioned when the flight departed at 10.09 p.m. It was supposed to land in Bangalore, a city in the Indian state of Karnataka.
