HC orders demolition of two buildings in Noida

Uttar Pradesh,Business/Economy,Immigration/Law/Rights, Fri, 11 Apr 2014 IANS

Lucknow, April 11 (IANS) The Allahabad High Court (HC) Friday ordered the demolition of two residential buildings in Noida for flouting norms and violating laid down guidelines.

The court said the construction of the two 40-storey buildings was not in accordance with the norms, hence they should be razed to the ground. The apartments with over 1,000 flats were built by a real estate major in sector 93-A of Noida.

The HC gave these directives while hearing a petition moved in 2012 by people who had booked flats in the buildings.

The court also ordered the real estate company, Supertech, to return the booking amount of the depositors with interest.

Up to 70 percent of the flats in these apartments have been booked so far. The company said it found the decision of the HC unacceptable and would move the Supreme Court.
