Political parties' cold shoulder upsets street children

New Delhi, April 8 (IANS) Disappointed with political parties for ignoring them in their manifestos, street children and "future voters" of Delhi Tuesday vowed to vote for the party which addresses their concerns.

"The children met the manifesto drafting committee of the Congress and we also sent a fax to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in addition to an open letter to all political parties through newspapers but have got no response," said 16-year-old Chandani, national secretary of NGO Badhte Kadam.

"The children were very happy after they attended the draft committee meeting but now they are upset," she added.

According to Vijay, Chandani's colleague and advisor of the NGO, the children are not important for the parties because they can't vote but that will not be the case for long.

"Children can't vote and hence parties don't acknowledge them. But these children are future voters and they have vowed to vote for the party which will talk about them when the time comes," he said.
