US judge quashes Apple, Google request for summary judgment

Washington , Sun, 30 Mar 2014 ANI

Washington, March 30 (ANI): US District Court Judge Lucy Koh has reportedly rejected a request for summary judgment by Apple, Google and other tech firms in a class action lawsuit filed against them by their employees for wage fixing.

Seven companies including Adobe Systems, Apple, Google, Intel, Intuit, Lucasfilm, and Pixar are named as defendants in the lawsuit.

A group of around 64,600 engineers, designers, quality analysts, artists, editors, and system administrators, employed by one of seven technology firms between 2005 and 2010, filed a lawsuit against it for conspiring to eliminate competitive hiring and keeping wages artificially low, Cnet reported.

While Pixar and Lucasfilm have agreed to shell out 9 million dollars to employees in order to settle the lawsuit, Intuit will be paying 11 million dollars to its employees. (ANI)
