CPI condemns terror attack in Kathua

New Delhi, Fri, 28 Mar 2014 ANI

New Delhi, Mar.28 (ANI): Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D Raja on Friday condemned the terrorist attack that took place in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua District. He described the terrorist strike as cowardly, and warned that no matter what the latter did or would try to do in the future, this won't weaken India at all.

"I strongly condemn this cowardly act of the terrorists, which led to the killing of one civilian and injuries to several other people. This needs to be condemned in the strongest possible terms. I also warn the terrorists, that India cannot be cowed down or weakened by such attacks. This is one thing that all secular democratic forces must understand that there is a sinister design by the terrorists to create an atmosphere which can jeopardize electoral forces.

Therefore, the country must stand united and these terrorists should work in co-ordination between state and central governments, as well as with the

intelligence forces," Raja said.

At least one person was killed and three others injured in a terror attack in the Dayalachak area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua District early on Friday morning.

According to local media reports, four militants in combat uniform stopped a white Bolero a little after 5 a.m. and fired indiscriminately at the passengers sitting inside. They later hijacked the Bolero and fled from the spot.

Police and security forces have reportedly launched a search for the terrorists and the nabbed car.

The injured have been shifted to a government hospital in Jammu.

The attack took place near Hiranagar, close to an army area, and is just a few kilometres from international border.

Police suspect that the attack was carried out by the militants who sneaked in recently.

Hiranagar was the place attacked in September last year by three militants. Then, four people were killed and two were injured. (ANI)
