Intelligence agencies did a great job by nabbing top IM terrorists: R P N Singh

New Delhi , Tue, 25 Mar 2014 ANI

New Delhi, Mar.25 (ANI): Union Minister of State for Home Ratanjit Pratap Narain Singh on Tuesday lauded intelligence agencies for achieving big success in nabbing Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists, and said the government will not take rest until it brings all the terrorists to justice.

"We have been successful in the last one-and-a-half years, where intelligence agencies have arrested many hardcore terrorists. With the arrest of Tehseen Akhtar alias Monu, who was apparently the new head of IM after Yasin Bhatkal, gives intelligence agencies a major success. Our government had introduced strong laws and steps, and the results are there for all to see, as we have arrested top IM terrorists like Yasin Bhatkal, Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi, Zia-ur-Rehman alias Waqas, and now Tehseen, which have dealt a severe blow to them, we will take rest only when all the terrorists are brought to book ," Singh said.

When asked about Waqas being a prize catch as the threat perception from him was more, given that Modi was on his hit list, Singh said, "Waqas had been involved in all terrorists acts, hence, he will definitely face punishment. We are continuing our interrogation with Waqas as well as with Tehseen in order to find out that which cities were on their radar that they were planning to launch their strike and also find leads about other people in their group".

With the arrest of Tehseen, almost the entire top leadership of Indian Mujahideen has now been nabbed by the police.

Indian Mujahideen co-founder Ahmad Siddhibappa Zarar alias Yasin Bhatkal, Tehseen Akhtar alias Monu, Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi and Zia Ur Rehman alias Waqas were the brains behind almost every IM attack on Indian soil. (ANI)
