Lohardaga, (Jharkhand), Mar. 24 (ANI): Police arrested a Maoist and recovered money in Jharkhand.

Acting on a tip-off, police launched a search operation in Lohardaga district of Jharkhand.

"On 21st March we got information that an active Maoist is coming to the town to receive money. We deployed a person to follow him and then he was arrested," said Superintendent of Police, Mritunjay Kumar.

The hotbeds of Maoists in the state are under tight security blanket due to the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, in Jhargram, security personnel defused a landmine which Maoists had planted under a bridge.

A landmine and a country made pistol were recovered by Jhargram police under Bansipol Bridge on Chakulia-Jhargram road of Jamboni police station area.

Later India's paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bomb disposal squad was called to defuse the mine.

"I saw many police officers at the bridge when I was going to office in the morning. Later, I came to know from police that a landmine was under the bridge. The police have blocked the road leading to the bridge," said a resident, Anup Mahato. (ANI)
