Pakistan seeks leftover US military equipment in Afghanistan

Washington , Mon, 17 Mar 2014 ANI

Washington, March 17 (ANI): Pakistan reportedly has its eyes on US military's 7 billion dollars worth of armored vehicles and equipment in Afghanistan, which the latter plans on discarding once the war comes to an end.

Pakistan has been in talks with American officials for months over leftover military hardware that the US wants to get rid of.

While no final decision has been made, Pakistan is keen on getting its hands on the US Army's mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicles, which according to Pentagon officials, would have limited strategic value, the Washington Post reported.

Meanwhile, an unnamed Pakistani official said that Pakistan will not take it for the sake of just taking it, and it will not take it because it's free, adding that the country will take the equipment because it needed it. (ANI)
