Jayalalithaa, a tainted leader, has no right to accuse me: A. Raja

Coimbatore , Sat, 15 Mar 2014 ANI

Coimbatore, Mar. 15 (ANI): Former Telecom Minister and an accused in the 2G Spectrum scam, A. Raja, on Saturday said that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is a tainted leader and that she had no right to speak anything against Raja.

"Who is Jayalalithaa? She is a tainted politician and has been so since the past 18 years. Therefore, she has no right to accuse me of something," said Raja.

He further said that the 2G spectrum case was presented in front of the Supreme Court without any facts.

"The case of 2G Spectrum case was presented in front of the Supreme Court without any facts. The media had fuelled the whole issue but it was blown up due to lack of facts," said Raja.

"There was no proper presentation of facts, documents or files. Had it been placed in front of Supreme Court, it would have never been passed, but SC's interpretation was resisted by the President. There are complete aberrations within the system. Whoever wants to discuss it they should come forward. Let there be debate, I am ready to face it," he said.

"The figures that were presented were mind boggling. There was a huge difference between the figures presented earlier and those in the chargesheet, but the trial court is silent on the figures and so is the PM. As per the evidence the entire case is baseless," he added.

Jayalalithaa on Thursday slammed DMK for fielding former Union Ministers A. Raja and Dayanidhi Maran, accused in 2G and Aircel-Maxis cases respectively.

Taking a dig at the defence offered by DMK chief M Karunanidhi that cases against the leaders were "weak", she said, "What does it mean if there is no witness? Karunanidhi thinks that he can justify scam-tainted candidates contesting in elections and cheating people." (ANI)
