New Delhi, Mar. 13 (ANI): Reacting to reports of Minister of Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari insisting the Congress to give him a ticket to contest from Chandigarh, the minister on Thursday said that such reports were baseless and unwarranted.
"There was a time from 1991-2004 when I was an aspirant from Chandigarh, but the party had asked me to contest from Ludhiana, which I did and lost by a thin margin," said Tewari.
"There was no cause for me to ask for a different seat other than the seat I have been representing. This speculation was completely unwarranted. I am willing to re-contest the seat that I have been representing and I have conveyed it to the party leadership," he said.
"But there is a process in dealing with such things, and it will be for the leadership to take the final call. If they so desire, I am more than willing to re-contest my seat. In fact, if the party wants me to campaign, I am ready to campaign in all the 542 constituencies," he added. (ANI)
