Pope Francis receives more positive comments than negatives on Twitter: Study

Johannesburg , Sun, 09 Mar 2014 ANI

Johannesburg, Mar. 09 (ANI): Pope Francis reportedly received more positive comments about himself on microblogging site Twitter than negative ones, a new study has revealed.

A Pew Research Centre study analysed eight million tweets about the pope and found that the positive comments about him outweigh the negatives by a ratio of five to one.

According to News24, it revealed that while most comments were neutral in tone, 84 percent of comments were positive and only 16 percent were negative.

Pew noted that Pope Francis' feedback appears in stark contrast to his predecessor Pope Benedict XVI, for whom Twitter comments with a tone were 30 percent positive and 70 percent negative.

The report said that Pope Francis, first Pope ever to embrace Twitter, has 3.75 million followers at his @Pontifex English-language account and his media mentions place him at par with world leaders. (ANI)
