Padukone says back to back movie hits made 2013 special for her

Mumbai , Thu, 16 Jan 2014 ANI

Mumbai, Jan.16 (ANI): Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has unveiled the cover of an entertainment magazine in Mumbai.

During the launch, Padukone said that 2013 was a special year for her and added audiences did not get breathing space due to her back-to-back releases.

"I'm a little disappointed that all my films released in the same year, whether it was 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani', 'Chennai Express', 'Ram-Leela', I actually wish that they were all sort of spaced out that gave the audience a little more breathing time. But, yes, it has been a special year, it's been great. Not just box office wise, but even in terms of the appreciation that I got in these films. But you can't take awards for granted," said Padukone.

She is in the film industry for six years now and Padukone garnered critical acclaim for her performance in Ayan Mukerji's "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", which stars Padukone in the lead with Ranbir Kapoor.

Her acting skills were first noticed in Homi Adajania's film "Cocktail" last year. Padukone played the role of Veronica, an impulsive and spunky woman, poles apart from the self-effacing characters she had played earlier.

Padukone has also acted in Imtiaz Ali's "Love Aaj Kal" that was her only hit in 2009 after a series of box office duds and unimpressive performances.

Ali, who directed Padukone in "Love Aaj Kal", said the actress is getting ample opportunities to prove her acting skills.

Padukone, the daughter of India's famous badminton player, Prakash Padukone, started modelling in college, and acted in a south Indian film in 2006. She made a dream debut in Bollywood, starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan, arguably Bollywood's biggest superstar. (ANI)
