As the weather is conducive for mosquitoes-borne diseases, Intersectoral Coordination Committee meeting was organised at North DMC headquarters Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civic Centre, on the prevention and control of the diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya.
During the meeting, the participating agencies were informed and sensitised about the conditions which lead to breeding of mosquitoes and how it can be prevented and controlled. The basic objective of this meeting was to monitor and control the breeding of mosquitoes in various establishments falling under their jurisdiction.
While the use of fogging was recommended as a last option as it is not very effective, the use of net and temophos granules was strongly advocates. All the participants agencies were asked to ensure appointment of Nodal officer in weekly rotation basis with direction to maintain registers where inspection reports about breeding site is updated and brought to the notice of concerned HoDs. This practice aims at breaking the break the life cycle of mosquitoes which is one week.
Participant agencies were asked to point out vulnerable areas noticed by them
and report it to Zonal offices of Public Health Department for immediate action.
The meeting was attended by the concerned officials Delhi Jal Board, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Delhi Development Authority, Delhi Police Delhi Transport Corporation, Delhi Fire Services, East Delhi Municipal Corporation, DHOs from Zonal offices and Engineering Department of North DMC.
