Godfrey Philips Bravery to honour unsung bravehearts of India

Godfrey Philips Bravery, a CSR initiative of Godfrey Philips India on Wednesday will honour 17 bravehearts from across the country. The award will be presented by Mr Kapil Sibal, Honourable Minister for Communications and IT and Bollywood actress Deepti Naval.

Mrs. Premlata Agarwal, oldest Indian woman mountaineer to scale Mt. Everest will also be present as a special guest during the award ceremony.

Mrs. Rajashree Birla, Chairperson, Aditya Birla Centre for Community and Rural Development will be honoured with the prestigious Social Lifetime Achievement Award for her exemplary contribution to inclusive growth and Dr. Shantha Sinha, Chairperson of NCPCR will also be conferred with a Special Social Lifetime Achievement Award for her pioneering work on child right. Dr. Sunitha Krishnan, Prajwala will be recognized for her rehabilation of trafficked women and children with the Amodini Award.

To commemorate 20 years of Bravery awards, Godfrey Philips India also launched a book called 'A billion Bravehearts'. The book pays homage to the inspiring extraordinaries of the seemingly ordinary people, many of whom are recognized and awarded by Godfrey Philips Bravery. The book has been published by Penguin Enterprises and authored by Mr. Sandipan Deb, a renowned journalist and a writer.

Mind-of-Steel Award:

  • Late Barun Biswas, West Bengal
  • Read Brigade, Uttar Pradesh

Physical Bravery:

  • Reshma Rangrez, Gujarat
  • Vadivelu, P.Kalaimani, V.Madan, Uday Moorthy,K.Gopi,Tamin Nadu
  • Master Sagar kashyap, Delhi (Special Physical Bravery Awards)

Social Bravery:

  • Jamuna Tudu, Jharkhand
  • Rehana Rehman, Uttar Pradesh
  • Kanubhai Hansmukhhbhai Tailor, Gujarat (Special Social Bravery Awards)
  • Simmy Malhotra(Special Social Bravery Awards)

Amodini Awards:

  • Dr. Sunitha Krishnana, Prajwala

Special Amodini Award:

  • Nilima Mishra BNGVN

Special Social Lifetime Achievenment Award:

  • Dr. Shantha Sinha, Chaiperson NCPCR

Social Lifetime Achievement Award:

  • Mrs. Rajshree Birla, Chairperson, Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development.

Godfrey Philips India instituted the Godfrey Philips Bravery Awards in 1990 with an objective to instill amongst people the culture of selfless action. With its two initiatives, Godfrey Philips Bravery Awards and Amodini, over 1,200 bravehearts have been honoured and over 22,000 women empowered directly.
