Congress slams BJP for gaining political mileage on election turf

New Delhi, Sat, 13 Apr 2013 NI Wire

Parliamentary Secretary to CM Mukesh Sharma has criticized BJP for hosting a lunch for Dalits on Ambedkar Jayanti. He added that BJP has been trying to gain political mileage as it is feeling unsafe on election turf. Further, Safai Karmcharis are being pressurized through three corporations to join in lunch in large number. This amounts to coercion for which BJP would be termed responsible.

It also amounts to infringement freedom to join or not join any program. The BJP which has always proved to be anti-Dalits did nothing to uplift the community during its regime in the city government as well as in Union Government. While in power in the corporations, today it is not taking any concrete step to regularize Safai Karmcharis but has been making them unemployed by implementing contract system.

BJP has always been misleading people especially weaker sections and Dalits. The party is wedded to the capitalists and it continues to be anti-poor.

There is nothing in credit for BJP on Dalit Welfare Front whereas the Congress government has eliminated practice of carrying human waste on the heads, constituted Delhi Safai Karmcharis Ayog, undertaken developmental works in Dalit Bastis, provided free coaching to Dalits for all competitive exams, enhanced scholarships for Dalit students, provided financial assistance to the Dalit ladies during their delivery and has renovated SC chaupals and has established Dr. Ambedkar Memorial in Civil Lines.

On the other hand, the BJP has divested the SCs from their residential plots and agricultural land given to them by the Congress government under 20-point program.
