London, November 30 (ANI): Peaches Geldof has apologized for tweeting the names of the victims who were abused by rock star Ian Watkins to her 160,000 followers, and added that she has learned a lesson.

The daughter of 'Band Aid' founder Bob Geldof explained that she had assumed the details were already "public knowledge" as she read their names on a US-based website, which later took it off the site, the BBC reported.

The 24-year-old British journalist, who had tweeted the names of the two mothers whose babies were abused by the 'Lostprophets' frontman, said that she had deleted her tweets and extended an apology for "any offence caused".

South Wales Police said it was discussing the tweeting issue with the Crown Prosecution Service.

Watkins had admitted to a string of sex offences, including the attempted rape of a baby. (ANI)
