PCB hoping Pak players get invited to IPL next year

Islamabad, Sat, 30 Nov 2013 ANI

Islamabad, Nov 30 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly hoping that their team's players might get a chance to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) next year.

According to the Daily Times, a PCB official said that the national team had no international commitments lined up after the Twenty20 World Cup in Bangladesh in March up to October 2014 for which they are hoping that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) invites players for the IPL in April and May.

The official further said that the optimism stemmed from BCCI's decision to invite the Pakistani domestic T20 champions for the Champions League Twenty20 this year as well as last year, although he admitted that the board had no discussions on this issue with the BCCI.

However, the official said that indications were that the Indians were also thinking on lines of having a bilateral series with Pakistan, adding that due to the general elections in India next year, there is also talk of shifting the IPL to some other country, which would make it easier for the BCCI and franchises to invite Pakistani players.

The official also said the PCB wanted Pakistan players to take part in IPL next year because of lack of international commitments in ICC's Future Tours Program. (ANI)
