People of Delhi have to choose between the performers and non-performers: Sheila

New Delhi, Sat, 30 Nov 2013 NI Wire

Senior Congress Leader and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today stated that her party is on strong turf in the 5thAssembly Elections. The people of Delhi are matured enough to decide their future as the choice is very limited. They have to choose between the performers and non-performers. She expressed these views during her whirlwind electioneering in the three assembly constituencies situated in the rural belt.

Dikshit stated that the Congress Government during last 15 years strived hard to ensure uniform development across the city. It also focused on the villages which remained neglected during the BJP regime from 1993 to 1998. Our government had been receiving complaints about the badly damaged roads in the rural belt as the ruling BJP in the corporations had no time and interest to attend to such complaints.

Most of the villages are connected to the outer ring road in the capital city. The congress government has been working on making the outer ring road from Vikaspuri to Wazirabad signal-free with construction of six flyovers and six elevated roads. The rural area is also being catered by the existing metro network. Gurgaon-Jahangirpuri line is being extended upto Badli, the work is likely to be completed soon. Inderlok-Mundka line is being extended upto Bahadurgarh to benefit remaining villages beyond Mundka in the Capital city.

Dikshit went on to say that the civic amenities in the villages have also been improved to match it with the other urban localities. The NH-1 passing through a number of villages has been upgraded substantially. The flyovers at Mukarba Chowk, Peeragarhi and coming up Signature Bridge would also be catering to the needs of rural traffic. The government has also commissioned e-Sub Registrar offices in the rural belt. The Congress which has been taking Mahatma Gandhi in high esteem has been following his ideals to transform the villages with abundant modern civic amenities.

Dikshit stated that the large industrial estate has come up at Bawana to provide large number of employment opportunities to the villagers. Our government has also supported the sportspersons belonging to villages. Smt. Dikshit added that the Food Security Program launched by the city government would benefit all eligible persons including villagers. There is no end to the development process.
