Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir), Nov.23 (ANI): To solve the problem of unemployment, the Jammu and Kashmir Government organised an employment fair for youth.

The fair aimed to ensure that the youth are imparted information about various self employment schemes being launched by government departments, as well as how to access easy interest bank loans.

"All the employment schemes of the central and provincial government have been put forward in the fair. And, people will also be informed about the latest technology related to agriculture and allied sectors to make sure the farmers gain knowledge about the good variety of seeds available and there is a replacement of the old seeds," said Minister of State for Cooperative Employment, Planning and Finance, Dr. Manoharlal Sharma.

"Our aim is to ensure employment and share the skill improvement programmes with both the educated as well as the uneducated youth. This is a combined effort of both the central and provincial government with the support of the district administration," added Sharma.

After inaugurating the fair, Sharma visited stalls and inspected exhibits of various departments.

Around 25 to 30 stalls drawn from different departments, including agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, floriculture, fisheries, industries, handloom, cooperatives, animal husbandry, sheep husbandry, rural development, social welfare, health, education and many more participated in the fair.

Sharma added that government cannot provide jobs to all youth in the valley, but both the educated and uneducated youth should make sure that they avail the benefits of state and Centre-sponsored employment schemes like the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme, (PMEGP), the Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY) and others.

Leaflets, literature and pamphlets of schemes and programmes of different departments were distributed among visitors at the fair.

Unemployed youth in large numbers attended the fair. Resource persons and technical experts of various departments provided details about self employment schemes.

"They have very good schemes. We are having a look at the departments and all those who want to take advantage, have full access to these schemes at the fair,"said Inayat Ali, a visitor at the fair. (ANI)
