Croatia's Josip Simunic denies making 'pro-Nazi' World Cup celebration chants

London, Nov 21 (ANI): Croatian defender Josip Simunic has denied making 'pro-Nazi' chants after his team's 2-0 victory over Iceland in a World Cup playoff match recently.

According to SportsMole.co.uk, the 35-year-old was caught on camera as he addressed the crowd with chants of 'for the homeland', a statement which has ties with the Ustashas, Croatia's pro-Nazi regime during the Second World War.

The Dinamo Zagreb player said that some people have to learn some history, adding that he was not afraid, as he did nothing wrong and was just supporting Croatia, his homeland.

Simunic was booked three times by Graham Poll before being sent off in Croatia's exit from the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the report said. (ANI)
