Durg (Chhattisgarh), Nov.14 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, on Thursday blamed the UPA Government at the Centre for blatantly using the help of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for its own selfish needs.

Addressing his second rally of the day in Durg, Chhattisgarh, Modi said: "The congress Government, which is at the Centre, is not in a position of ruling the nation because of their good work, and not also because of the allies, but they are running the government with the help of CBI.

He also upbraided the CBI "for partaking of unnecessary actions as per the whims and woes of the Congress."

Accusing the Congress of being full of arrogance, Modi further said: "People of Congress Party are sitting on seventh heaven, they are full of arrogance, and they believe that this is there state, there chair and their property, and no one has the right to take it, and no one has the power to raise voice against it."

The first phase of voting in 18 constituencies across eight districts in south Chhattisgarh took place November 11, and witnessed a voter turnout of 67 per cent.

Elections for the remaining 72 segments will take place on November 19.

Earlier in the day, addressing a rally in Bemetara, Modi accused the Congress Party for cheating the people of Chhattisgarh.

Modi is now using elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Mizoram to build a presence among voters unfamiliar with his promises of efficient governance and probity.

He has drawn large crowds across the country, and regularly polls as India's most popular politician.

In several states he has been campaigning against the Congress party's Rahul Gandhi, the fourth generation of the Gandhi-Nehru dynasty that has dominated Indian politics since independence from the British in 1947.

Modi, three times Chief Minister of Gujarat state, was put forward as the prime ministerial candidate of the BJP in September, cementing his rise as a national leader. (ANI)
