Bhilai (Chhattisgarh), Tue, 12 Nov 2013 ANI

Bhilai (Chhattisgarh), Nov.12 (ANI): UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday said the welfare polices for the people introduced by the Central Government have not been correctly implemented by the

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Chhattisgarh Government.

She also said that Chhattisgarh could not develop due to wrong policies of the BJP.

"Our welfare policies for the people have not been correctly implemented by the BJP government here, it has always remained very careless about it. The Central Government under the leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh had sanctioned crores of rupees for the people of Chhattisgarh," she said while addressing a rally here.

"There is misgovernance under BJP's rule in Chhattisgarh. They have failed to develop the state. It is due to the BJP's wrong policies that despite having all resources, Chhattisgarh has not progressed,' she added.

Chhattisgarh, which witnessed a voter turnout of 67 percent in its first phase on Monday, will go into its second phase of polls on November 19, for the remaining 72 constituencies.

Yesterday, Deputy Election Commissioner R. Balakrishnan said that there was visible enthusiasm in voters to participate in democratic process, despite sporadic attacks by Maoists, and rebel boycott calls,

sporadic incidents of blasts, exchange of firing, and unearthing of IEDs in some places.

He also confirmed that one CRPF jawan succumbed to his injuries in Dantewada District in exchange of fire between the security forces and the Naxals.

The results of the Chhattisgarh elections, along with those in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi, will be declared on December 8. (ANI)
