London, Nov 6 (ANI): Catering workers at Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea fall below 8.80 pounds-an-hour 'living wage' reckoned necessary for a decent life in London, which means it would take a worker seven years to earn midfielder Mesut Ozil's weekly wage.
Labour councillor Andy Hull said that if Arsenal can afford to pay their players 100,000 pounds a week, surely they could pay their contractors 8.80 pounds an hour.
According to the Daily Star, match day bar staff and catering roles at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium get 7.07 pounds an hour, while chefs start at 7.76 pounds.
These are above the minimum wage of 6.31 pounds per hour for workers over 21 but below the wage economics experts say is needed for a decent life in the capital, the report said.
An Arsenal spokesman said that many catering staff had other jobs, the report added. (ANI)
