Intangible history at this IGNCA exhibition

New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS) Want to experience a slice of intangible history and heritage? Head to the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) in the national capital for the exhibition, "Audiovisual Archives", that opened Thursday.

In a bid to showcase rare audio-visual recordings, All India Radio, Doordarshan, Sangeet Natak Akademi, the Archive of Indian Music and IGNCA have contributed sound recordings and moving images and thrown open the collection to the general public.

Naad Saagar Archives, Archives and Research Centre for Ethnomusicology, School of Cultural Texts and Records, Jadavpur University and Rupayan Sansthan have also contributed to the exhibition that will offer visitors a view of historical clips, some quite rare.

The exhibition is on at IGNCA till Nov 15.

"There is a need for more awareness about the audiovisual heritage of our country that is preserved by the participating institutions. The exhibition features selections of material from all contributors to enable audiences to appreciate the collection," a statement said.
