Jacintha Saldanha's family outraged over media boss' 'shit happens' comment

Melbourne, Wed, 23 Oct 2013 ANI

Melbourne, October 23 (ANI): British nurse Jacintha Saldanha's family has expressed shock over comments made by Southern Cross Media's boss over her death and has demanded and apology.

The chairman Max Moore-Wilton has reportedly told shareholders at the company's AGM that while hoaxes like the royal radio prank and other incidents involving on-air talent were unfortunate, "shit happens", Newsw.com.au reported.

The British nurse, who was found dead last December after taking the initial '2Day FM radio' prank call to her nurses station at King Edward VII hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge was hospitalized, had reportedly left a suicide note blaming the prank for her death.

She had forwarded the call made by the DJs, who posed as the Queen and Prince Charles, to the Duchess's ward where another nurse spoke openly about her morning sickness condition believing the call to be from the Royal Family.

A spokesman for the deceased nurse's family said that the comment about the "tragic incident" was an insult to the memory of a loving mother and wife and demanded an apology from Moore-Wilton. (ANI)
