Barca denies 'Messi to demand Ronaldo-style pay hike' reports

London, Thu, 19 Sep 2013 ANI

London, Sept 19 (ANI): Barcelona has reportedly denied reports that their star player Lionel Messi will demand an increase in his wages to match Cristiano Ronaldo in the wake of the Real Madrid player's bumper new contract.

The Portuguese striker will reportedly get 280,000 pounds-per-week, making him the highest paid player in the world, a fact reports claim has irked four-time Ballor d'Or winner Messi, who only penned a new deal with his club back in February.

According to the Daily Star, Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has dispelled the rumours, saying that Messi has not come to him with any new pay demands, adding that he is happy at Barcelona, which he called as the 'best club in the world'.

The report mentioned that Messi is contracted to the Catalan giants until June 30, 2018. (ANI)
