BSF orders revision trial in girl's killing

Kolkata, Sep 13 (IANS) The Border Security Force (BSF) has decided to hold a revision trial against a trooper for allegedly gunning down a minor Bangladeshi girl on the international border in West Bengal, an official release said here Friday.

Felani Khatun, 15, was shot dead Jan 7, 2011, while crossing over from India to Bangladesh near the border checkpoint at Chaudharihat in Cooch Behar district.

Constable Amiya Ghosh of the 181 battalion was Sep 6 held not guilty by a General Security Force Court, it said.

"The Competent Authority of BSF has decided to hold a revision trial in Felani Khatun death...due to firing by constable Amiya Ghosh," said the release.

Gory pictures of her body, hanging upside down on the barbed wire fence, were splashed across internet.

The body allegedly hung for hours before the border troopers of both countries brought it down.
