BSF seizes 11 packets of Heroin in Amritsar sector

Amritsar (Punjab), Sept 2 (ANI): The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday seized eleven packets of contraband suspected to be Heroin on Punjab border with Pakistan in Amritsar sector.

Its international market value is said to be Rs. 55 crores.

Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border from smuggling point of view, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier Ajay Kumar Tomar has issued operational guidelines to further strengthen border domination especially in view of rainy season and standing paddy crops so as to effectively check the menace of narcotics smuggling on Punjab border with Pakistan. The BSF field units are maintaining enhanced vigil on border.

The troops were on high alert as inputs were received regarding attempt of smuggling from the area of Border Out Post Amar.

BSF troops of Border Out Post Amar, Amritsar Sector observed some suspicious movement on both sides of Border Security fencing.

The troops immediately alerted the BSF vehicle patrolling party placed on link road running parallel to Border Security fencing.

BSF vehicle patrolling party tried to intercept the Indian side miscreants coming back from Border Security fencing and challenged them.

However the smugglers managed to escape leaving behind a cloth made tube having 11 packets of one kilogram each of contraband suspected to be heroin. (ANI)
