Woods 'flirts with history' with 'magical' 61 at Bridgestone Invitational

Johannesburg, Aug 3 (ANI): World No.1 Tiger Woods has flirted with history by shooting the greatest round of his career with a 61 at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational.

The shot has set up the American golf ace for a 79th PGA Tour title, three behind Sam Snead's all-time record of 82.

According to the Mirror, the 'magical' 61 score of Woods, who is sitting at nine-under after 13 holes of the par-70 Firestone Country Club in USA, however, came at the expense of recording the sixth round of 59 in PGA Tour history.

The report further said that Woods held a seven-shot lead over defending champion Keegan Bradley and England's Chris Wood, who were both round in 68, with Open runner-up Henrik Stenson and American Bill Haas another stroke back.

Stating that he had a good going at the tournament with a nice start to the game, Woods said that he managed to keep his momentum going with a couple of key putts for par, although he admitted that he could have shot a 59 as he had done it before in practice at his home course of Isleworth.

However, Woods said that he is not disappointed and is 'pretty relaxed' despite being unable to shoot 59, adding that he had done it when he was only nine years old. (ANI)
