Taliban's rapid-fire spread in Pak likened to prolific 'Ricky Ponting playing cricket'

Peshawar, July 28 (ANI): Taliban fighters rapid-fire spread in Peshawar has been compared to Ricky Ponting, known for his prolific scoring ability.

Taliban is increasingly showing their presence in Peshawar through intimidation and violence, according to residents, the police and city officials.

A senior security official in Peshawar, referring to Ponting, known for his scoring ability, said that the Taliban too was acting so fast.

According to the New York Times, while Taliban violence has declined across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province this year, officials said, rates have increased in Peshawar.

Militants have stepped up attacks aimed at the police, extortion demands, sectarian killings and kidnappings.

According to the report, the militants however do not pose an immediate threat to the overall control of the city, and the police said that they have foiled many potential attacks. (ANI)
