Lt.- Gen. Anil Chait takes over as chief of Integrated Defence Staff

New Delhi, July 1 (ANI): Lieutenant General Anil Chait has taken over as Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) here today.

In his career spanning over 39 years, General Chait has held various command, staff and instructional appointments. The General Officer has a vast operational experience across the entire spectrum of conflict.

Lieutenant General Anil Chait was associated with the Special Action Group (The Black Cats) of the National Security Guards and was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal.

He has served with an infantry division, as Colonel General Staff on the Line of Control during Operation Parakram. He served as a Colonel in the Military Secretary's Branch and as a Brigadier in the Perspective Planning Directorate dealing with formulation of National and Military Security Strategy and Policy.

During his career, he had commanded an Armoured Regiment, an Independent Amoured Brigade and an Infantry Division on the Western Border and had organised 4th edition of Military World Games . He also attended the U.S. Army War College where he was awarded the Medal of Excellence.

As General Officer Commanding of a Strike Corps, he has been responsible for a study on the Restructuring of the Strike Corps, making it into a transformational trailblazer for FORCE-2025. As Commandant of the Army War College, he set up Study Centre for domain specialization and transformation of the College into a Centre of Excellence for training leaders.

Prior to moving to Delhi, Lt.Gen Chait was GOC-in-C Central Command and was awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal in 2013. (ANI)
