Kinnaur (Himachal Pradesh), June 29 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Saturday sought monetary aid from the Central Government for the relief and restoration work in the rain-ravaged areas of his state.
Virbhadra Singh claimed that public property-excluding state properties-worth rupees 2,575 crores has been damaged. He said:" We have demanded from the Central Government immediate release of rupees 1,000 crore for relief and restoration work in the rain-ravaged areas of the state."
The floods, which were caused by heavy pre-monsoon rains, swept away lands of the farmers and caused heavy damage to the crops in some areas of Himachal Pradesh .
Virbhadra Singh had earlier this week met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and sought a financial relief of Rs1, 000 crore. He also asked the Defence Ministry to formulate a long-term plan for the strengthening the highway from Wangtu to Kaurik in Kinnaur. (ANI)
