New York, Jun. 3 (ANI): Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani,' which opened in 162 theatres on Friday, earned 1.6 million dollars.
Box-office analyst Paul Dergarabedian told the New York Post that it was very unusual to see a Bollywood film in top 10, asserting that sometimes these movies did crack into the top 20 or top 15 (domestically).
He said that they are usually not released in that many theatres but make a big splash.
The top box office earners this weekend are:
1. 'Fast and Furious 6 - 34.5 million dollars
2. 'Now You See Me' - 28.05 million dollars
3. 'After Earth' - 27 million dollars
4. 'Epic' - 16.4 million dollars
4. 'Star Trek: Into Darkness' - 16.4 million dollars
5. 'The Hangover Part III' - 15.9 million dollars
6. 'Iron Man 3' - 8 million dollars
7. 'The Great Gatsby' - 6.3 million dollars
8. 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' - 1.6 million dollars
9. 'Mud' - 1.2 million dollars (ANI)
10. 'The Croods' - 615,000 dollars (ANI)
