Srinagar , Mon, 27 May 2013 ANI

Srinagar, May 27 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Police foiled a protest march called by the contractual government employees here on Monday demanding regularisation of jobs, pay hike and release of arrears.

Employees came out in droves in Srinagar city, and staged a demonstration against the state government.

The chairman of Kashmir PHE Joint Employees Association, Sajad Ahmad Parray, highlighted the apathy of the state government towards their long-pending demands.

"The government had promised that all our demands will be fulfilled, but till today nothing has been done," said Parray.

The protesters also threatened that if the government failed to address their demands then they would protest on a large scale.

The protesters tried to move towards the Civil Secretariat, but the police baton charged them and used water cannons to disperse them resulting in the arrest of several protestors. (ANI)
