Nawaz Sharif pays 'make up' visit to ailing Imran Khan

Lahore, Wed, 15 May 2013 ANI

Lahore, May 15 (ANI): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif has declared a moratorium on all the bruising duels he had with Imran Khan in the run-up to the 2013 elections, and has visited the ailing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader in the hospital to ask him to let bygones be bygones.

Khan is recuperating at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital after sustaining head and back injuries in a fall during a rally last Tuesday, reports The Express Tribune.

Sharif said he told Khan that they should work together to bring prosperity to the people of Pakistan. Sharif said Khan assured him of a good working relationship.

During campaigning, Sharif and his party were harshly critisised by Khan. Similarly, PML-N leaders also heaped criticism on Khan during their public speeches in the run-up to the elections.

According to sources, top Saudi envoy in Islamabad, Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Saleh Al Ghadeer, met Khan at the hospital on Tuesday morning to enquire about his health. And it was he who persuaded him to see Sharif. Sources added that close mutual friends of the two leaders also played a crucial role.

Sharif pledged to work together with Khan, whose PTI has emerged as the third largest party in the National Assembly and the largest part in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. (ANI)
